Man ends life after throwing his three children in pond

Vadodara, July 6 (UNI) A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a pond after throwing his three children into it following a quarrel with his wife.

According to police, Sajid Khan Pathan (35), a resident of Hathikhana area here, had a tiff with his wife Nasira Bano last night after which, in a fit of frustration, he took his three children - Aashiyana (10), Samira (7) and Sahil (4) to the Sarasia pond and threw them in it. Thereafter, he also jumped into the waters.

A few shopkeepers nearby tried to rescue them, but Sajid and Aashiyana drowned, while the other two children were pulled out and have been admitted to the SSG civil hospital here.

Police said Sajid's alleged habit of drinking was the cause of differences between the couple.

A case has been registered, while further investigations are on, police added.
