Live grenade seized in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 6 (UNI) A live hand grenade was seized at Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the Srinagar city, tonight, police sources said.

They said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a security forces' vehicle near the Hotel Peak View at Lal Chowk at around 2045 hrs.

However, the grenade did not explode, the police sources added.

They said the entire area was cordoned off and a bomb disposal squad pressed into service to defuse the grenade.

The personnel later took away the live grenade with them.
