Jute mill closed, irked employees block roads for hours

Barrackpore, July 6 (UNI) The authorities of the Gouri Shankar Jute Mill today issued suspension of work notice, rendering about 2400 employees and workers jobless.

The employees, who gathered in front of the mill gate in 24 North Paraganas under Nuapada police station, were taken aback by the notice and in protest staged long hours of road blockades.

The blockades were removed soon after the police intervened in the whole matter.

However, no untoward situation has been reported so far.
