Indian made foreign liquor seized; two held

Anand, July 6 (UNI) Police have seized a huge quantity of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) from a truck and arrested two persons in this connection near Sun temple in Borsad town, about 25 kms from here, early today.

Acting on a tip-off, the liquor prohibition squad attached to Petlad town kept vigil and halted the truck driven by - Yashwant Kishan Sadve and his accomplice Navin Babar Patel.

During the search, police found 116 boxes containing 1,580 bottles of IMFL, two mobile phones and also impounded the truck, valued at about Rs 11 lakh.

Yashwant and Navin are residents of Mandva and Dungari villages, respectively, of Valsad district in Gujarat.

The truck was allegedly laden with liquor at the Union Territory of Daman and was to be off-loaded at some place in Saurashtra.

Police have arrested both the accused and further investigations are on.
