India, China should work for mutual growth: Speaker
Zhengzhou, China, July 6 (UNI) India and China can utilise respective expertise for mutual benefit, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, heading a Parliamentary delegation to China, said on arrival here.
"India's expertise in software and China's achievements in hardware sector could be utilised by both the countries for their mutual benefit," Mr Chatterjee said.
He said the development of both the countries would benefit not only Asia but the entire world.
The Speaker said the relations between the two countries were centuries - old and based on the principles of Panchsheel.
According a warm welcome to the delegation, Mr Xu Guangchun, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Henan People's Congress said that it was a proud moment for them to has a very senior leader of India in their province after the visit of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Prior to leaving for Zhengzhou, the delegation at Beijing, had a detailed meeting with the Vice Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
The delegation was also given a presentation on Eleventh Five Year Programme on economic and social development by the Chinese authorities.
The delegation includes Mr K Rehman Khan, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Mr Ananth Kumar, Mr K S Rao, Mr Jaochim Naxla, Mrs V Radhika Selvi, Mr Mangni Lal Mandal besides secretary-Generals of both the Houses.
