Srinagar, July 6 (UNI) Security forces killed one Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant, arrested another and busted a hideout in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said.

They said militants hurled a hand grenade towards security forces at the general bus stand, Batmaloo, last night. However, it missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside injuring a civilian.

Sources said security forces gunned down a HM militant at Arnas in Udhampur district of Jammu region today. The encounter ensued after a search party was attacked by the militants. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

A report from Jammu said the Hizbul militants were planning to get aluminium powder and mix it with potassium permanganate to make high quality explosive. The Counter Intelligence (CI) and Reasi police raided the spot yesterday and nabbed a militant, Qasim Ali, a resident of Morha Kund in Thuroo area of Arnas.

''About 30 kg potassium permanganate was seized from the militant's possession which he had dumped at Thuroo Kund. The police team raided a hide-out of Wasim Ali at Thuroo Kund and recovered 77 packets of potassium permanganate, each weighing 400 grams, one Chinese hand grenade and five pistol rounds,'' the sources added.

In another incident, the troops recovered seven Chinese grenades, one Improved Explosive Device (IED), one detonator and 80 AK rounds from a hideout at Bariana in Mahore.
