Himalaya Cup Under-15 cricket tourney from July 10

Bangalore, July 6 (UNI) The third edition of the Himalaya Cup Under-15 Cricket Championship will kick off here on July 10, followed by other legs in Hyderabad, New Delhi, Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Bokaro.

In all, 109 schools from four cities would participate in the championship, to be held on a league-cum-knock out basis.

Himalaya Drug company Consumer Health Division Head Subrata Dutta told newspersons here today that ''if India wants to produce cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble, we need to professionalise the game of cricket from an early stage. Unfortunately, under-15 cricketing has been overseen, with the big money bagging national league tournaments enjoying all the glamour.'' Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary Brijesh Patel said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had decided to bring women's cricket under its purview and it would be promoted in the country.

Congratulating Team India for its away series win against the West Indies, he said ''our boys by winning the series after a gap of 35 years have proved their supremacy.'' UNI MSP GD AY BST1708
