Bhiwandi, July 6 (UNI) The state government late last night stayed the construction of police station which had led to violence in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi claiming at least four lives.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R R Patil, is likely to visit the town and hold discussions with the citizens and the police besides the government officials over the entire issue.

Talking to UNI, a senior officer in the district termed the incident as the most unfortunate and said these were the handiwork of some fanatics.

The plot was in possession of the police since 1920 and they have every right to construct structures over it, he said.

The entire details, including the land records and permission granted by the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation, will be examined as a result of the dispute.

The government is likely to order a magisterial enquiry into the firing, police said.
