GE to supply compressors for Reliance Petroleum

New Delhi, JulY 6 (UNI) Global engineering major GE's Oil and Gas Business will supply compression technology to Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL) for its greenfield project in Jamnagar -- the world's biggest refinery complex at a single location.

The Refinery with a capacity to process almost two per cent of the world's crude oil, located in Special Economic Zone adjacent to the exisiting refinery owned by Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) that currently ranks as the third largest in the world will have three reciprocating compressors, two screw compressors and spare parts for the project. The reciprocating compressors will be manufactured at GE's Oil and Gas facilities in Florence, Italy while the screw compressors will be supplied from GE's plant in Oshkosh, Wisconisn.

The equipment will be shipped during the first and second quarters of 2008.

''lower lifecycle costs translate into high long term profitability. That's why leading oil and gas operators such as Reliance have been traditional users of GE equipment and services, that have enhanced productivity and are backed by comprehesnive support and reliability,'' Regional General Manager, GE Oil and Gas, India, Mohammad Ayoub said in a statement here.
