Finance Commission to be set up in J

Srinagar, July 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today announced the setting up of a Finance Commission which would lay down norms for equitable distribution of resources in all the three regions of the state.

Addressing a news conference here, Mr Azad said a Bill in this regard would be brought in the coming session of the state Assembly, beginning July 28.

He said the people of all the regions in the state had repeatedly raised the issue of equitable distribution of resources.

The Cabinet in its meeting this morning, decided to meet the aspirations of the people of all the three regions, he said.

''We have decided to set up a Finance Commission which will lay down norms for equitable distribution of resources in all the three regions of the state,'' he added.

With this decision, the Chief Minister said no region would complain of discrimination and the voices of division on the basis of regions silenced.

''Till I am at the helm of affairs, I will never allow any discrimination or division of the state,'' he asserted.
