Elections to Veterinary Council of India on August 30, 2006

New Delhi, JulY 6 (UNI) The Government has decided to hold elections to the Veterinary Council of India to elect eleven members from amongst the registered veterinary practitioners under section 3(3) (g) of the Indian Veterinary Act, 1984.

The official gazette notification regarding this will be issued on July 10, 2006.

The polling will take place on August 30, if necessary, according to an official release here today.

About 43,065 registered veterinary practitioners will be participating in this election held once in three years.

Dr H R Keshavmurthy, Deputy Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries has been appointed as the Returning Officer.
