Drug mafia don operative in north arrested, 41 Kg heroin seized

New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) Delhi police have busted a major network involved in the smuggling of heroin from neighbouring Pakistan to various parts of India and arrested a notorious kingpin and self styled don Gurnam Singh and his associate with 41 Kg of heroin.

A Special cell of the Delhi police arrested Gurnam, a self-styled don of the drug mafia operating in northern India and having connections with notorious smugglers based in Pakistan, from the Kapashera area this morning, Alok Kumar, DCP Special Cell, told mediapersons.

Mr Kumar said Gurnam used to receive huge amount of contrabands from smugglers in Pakistan which was then distributed around the country through his network.

The Special cell arrested Gurnam when he was trying to shift the contrabands in his possession from his Faridabad hide-out to Ambala.

About 37 Kg of heroin was seized from his possession.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the police arrested Gurnam's associate Jaswinder Singh from the Outer Ring road and recovered 4 kg heroin from his possession. Jaswinder's interrogation led the police to Gurnam.

Gurnam's interrogation also revealed that he used to receive more than 100 Kg of heroin every month which he used to supply to his parties.

Further investigation in the case is in progress, Mr Kumar said.

Later, a Delhi Court remanded Gurnam to police custody till July 11.
