DMRC installs automatic vending machine at Rajiv Chowk station

New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) To solve the problem of heavy rush for tickets at Metro stations, specially during office hours, the Delhi Metro has installed an automatic ticket vending machine at its Rajiv Chowk station which will save commuters the trouble of having to stand in long queues to buy tickets.

DMRC sources told UNI here that the installation of the automatic vending machine, which was unveiled before mediapersons today, was aimed at mitigating the problem of heavy rush of commuters at the metro stations during peak hours.

The vending machine would come into operation from tomorrow at Rajiv Chowk station on a trial basis for three months, they said.

Based on the feedback, the machine would also be put up at other busy stations of the Delhi Metro, the sources said.

At present the total rideship at the Rajiv Chowk Metro station is around 25,000.
