DCW demands suspension of constable for beating woman
New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) The Delhi Commission of Women today registered a case against two police constables who allegedly beat a woman in Sultanpuri in North Delhi severely, leading her to lose consciousness.
Eyewitnesses in the case have alleged that the two constables, Pawan Kumar and Dharamveer, in an inebriated state, approached the 25-year-old Manjeet Singh at her home late in the night and beat her with batons, the DCW said in a statement.
However, with the DCW swinging into action has resulted in the case being investigated by the Delhi police vigilance branch.
However, DCW chairperson Kiran Walia lamented that still no FIR had been registered in the case.
Some 70 people from the area gheraoed the Delhi police headquarters this morning. Later, they told the DCW they were being stopped from lodging a complaints in the commission.
