BSNL to use AP Revenue Recovery Act to recover arrears
Eluru, Jul 6 (UNI) The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) can make use of the Andhra Pradesh Revenue Recovery Act to recover its phone bill dues from defaults, BSNL General Manager (West Godavari) L Anantaram said today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the State Government had issued orders extending the applicability of the Act to recover dues from the BSNL customers. This would facilitate to recover arrears in the same manner as arrears of land revenue.
As per BSNL's request, the state the government had issued the orders, he said adding that the government itself would recover the dues from the defaulters.
Andhra Pradesh was the second state in the country to permit the usage of Revenue Recovery Act after Kerala.
Mr Anantharam said currently an amount of Rs one crore is to be recovered from the defaulters in West Godavari district.
The BSNL district office was earning a revenue of Rs 120 crore per annum.
Mr Anantaram said as part of the BSNL Cellone network phase-four expansion, the Nigam had commissioned 42 towers in the district to give a better coverage to its mobile customers.
