AP to get less rains as depression weakens

Hyderabad, July 6 (UNI) The Southwest Monsoon is likely to become less intense as the deep depression weakened into low pressure and moved to Rajasthan from Central India.

''The state will experience only moderate rains in the next couple of days,'' Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director Satya Kumar told UNI.

Weather was mainly dry over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema, he added.

Isolated rain/thundershowers were likely to occur over all the three regions of the state in the next 48 hours. There were chances of one or two spells of rain/thundershowers in parts of the state capital, he added.

A report from Visakhapatnam said four naval diving teams were deployed for relief and rescue operations to help the rain-affected people.

An Eastern Naval Command (ENC) release said here the teams assisted in providing succour to the rain-affected villages of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam Districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The teams assisted the local authorities in rescuing marooned villagers and distribution of food packets.
