AITUC to protest UPA's disinvestment policies
Kolkata, July 6 (UNI) The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) will organise a convention in New Delhi to protest against the Centre's disinvestment and anti-people policies on July 25.
In a convention organised by the Federation of Jute Mill Workers Union, AITUC state secretary Ranjit Guha said the Left parties were supporting the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government on the basis of Common Minimum Programme(CMP) agenda and the Centre had promised not to divest on any Navratna companies.
Mr Guha criticised the Centre for deviating from their promises.
''The UPA government has already hiked the petrol and diesel prices and privatised the Mumbai and Delhi airports. Now it is determined to privatise the Kolkata and Chennai airports for violating the people's verdict,'' Mr Guha said.
He said bandh was observed in Orissa against the disinvestment of NALCO and similar protests took place in Tamil Nadu regarding the Centre's decision to divest in Neyville Lignite Corporation.
