A Mother and her Son sentenced imprisonment on dowry case

Madikeri, July 6 (UNI) A Mother and her son were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment by the District and Sessions Court here on a dowry harassment case.

Judge Venkatesh slapped a seven year rigorous imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine to Janardhan and his mother was awarded four year Rigorous imprisonment besides a fine of Rs 3,000.

In 1998, the duo were charged with harassing Saraswathi, wife of Janardan for dowry. Saraswathi committed suicide by consuming pesticides at Kanthur Murnad in her husbands house. Police arrested the duo and had registered a case.
