Wanted contract killer gunned down

Varanasi, July 5 (UNI) A contract killer, involved in 12 cases including six murders and carrying a reward of Rs 10,000, has been gunned down in Sigra area by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of district police.

Police superintendent (City) Anant Deo today said Rinku Gupta was gunned down by SOG sleuths near Maldahiya crossing last night.

However, his aide managed to escape.

The slain criminal was associated with the Annu Tripathi gang, but following the death of the kingpin two yrs back, Rinku joined the Vinit Singh gang.

The police had recently sent a proposal to the government to raise the bounty from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000, he added.

A countrymade carbine was also recovered from the spot.
