Uma appoints Prahlad Patel and Tapan Sikdar to party posts

New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) Bharatiya Janashakti President Uma Bharti today appointed former Union Ministers Prahlad Patel and Tapan Sikdar as National General Secretary and President of West Bengal unit respectively even as the newly floated outfit received the status of a recognised party by the Election Commission.

Ms Bharti made Mr Raghunandan Sharma as the party president in Madhya Pradesh while while Mr Babu Ram Nishad has been appointed as president of Uttar Pradesh unit. Mr Venugopal Reddy has been made the Bharatiya Janashakti Chief in Telangana region and Mr Mahesh Kumar will be incharge of membership drive.

Mr Sikdar has been given charge of the North-Eastern states.

Mr Chandra Raj Singhvi has been made the National Vice President with the charge of Rajasthan affairs.

Earlier in the day a delegation consisting of senior BJ Vice President Sangh Priya Gautam, Prahlad Patel and others called on the Election Commissioners to be told that the E C has accorded the party the status of a 'recognised party' after it fulfilled various requirements.
