State Govt asked to explain rise in estimated costs of project
Mumbai, July 5 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today asked the state government to explain the rise in estimated cost of the Bandra-Worli sea link project from Rs 400 crore to Rs 1306 crore.
A division bench comprising justices R M Lodha and S F Vajifdar was hearing a PIL filed by ''Save Worli Sea Face Samitee'', a non governmental organisation which has alleged that the environment impact assessment (EIA) study has not been carried out after the project was modified.
However, the Environment and Forests department today submitted that the EIA study had been carried out earlier. Though the project was modified later, a new study has not been conducted, the department admitted.
