Small and Medium Newspapers Federation hails new ad policy

New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) All India Small and Medium Newspapers Federation today welcomed the new advertisement policy, saying it would give a boost to small and medium newspapers.

The steps in the new policy to remove the role of Registrar of Newspapers in India (RNI) in circulation check will clear major bottlenecks and agony faced by the publishers, said Gurinder Singh, President of All India Small and Medium Newspapers Federation.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry in the new advertisement policy announced last night had also reduced eligibility for empanelment of a newspaper from 6,000 copies to 2,000 copies.

''By taking this step, the government seems to be finally taking small and medium newspapers seriously,'' said Mr Singh.
