Seven people killed, 21 injured in collision

Jammu, Jul 5 (UNI) At least seven members of a marriage party were killed and 21 injured when a mini-bus collided head-on with a truck at Chhan Rorian in Kathua district last night.

Police said the mini-bus, carrying members of a marriage party, was on its way from Saidda villge to Pallad when it collided with a truck at about 2230 hrs.

Five passengers of the mini-bus, including the driver, were killed on the spot while 23 others received injuries, 13 of them severely.

All the injured passengers were rushed to the district hospital where two of them died.

A team of Army doctors also reached the district hospital to assist the civil doctors in treating the injured. Eleven of the injured including some children were, later, referred to the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) here.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua Sarita Chouhan visited the District Hospital and directed the hospital authorities to provide all possible medicare to the injured.
