Rice says stalling will not work for Iran

WASHINGTON, July 5 (Reuters) US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said today major powers will not let Iran stall its response to their proposal for resolving the nuclear crisis and a reply is expected by mid-July.

If Iran is ''trying to stall, it's not going to work,'' Rice told reporters, adding that the major powers ''still intend to have a substantive response from Iran before the middle of July'' when Group of Eight leaders meet in St Petersburg, Russia.
