New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) The power situation in the capital today continued to remain grim with the DelhiTransco having to resort to 576 MW of loadshedding during peak hours.

Several areas of South Delhi experienced several hours of loadshedding.

Out of the peak demand of 3838 MW, the Delhi Transco limited could meet only 3262 MW, a spokesperson of the company said.

Delhi Transco officials say the power crisis could prevail for at least two weeks due to the shut down of the 200 MW Badarpur power plant, which was undergoing maintenance.

Transco sources said the grave power situation was also due to the fact that the existing generation was low while the demand was high, which often led to the Northern Grid, the main source of power supply to the capital, experiencing frequency problems.
