PM urged to release Interim Relief for Central Government employees

New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) Expressing hope that the government would soon act on its promise to set up the Sixth Pay Commission, a leading trade union of Railway workers has petitioned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to release Interim Relief for Central Government employees.

National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) General Secretary M Raghaviah, who met Dr. Singh yesterday, explained to him the necessity to announce Interim Relief to the Central government employees while issuing a notification constituting the Sixth Pay Commission.

Mr Raghavaiah said there was a great disparity in the salary structures of the employees of the Central Government and public section enterprises as well as in banks and insurance companies.

He said grant of Interim Relief along with the notification would go a long way in generating satisfactin among the employees.
