Nationwide protest against PSUs disinvestment
New Delhi, July 5: Various trade unions and associations of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation today carried out a nationwide agitation against UPA government's policy of disinvestment in profit-making PSUs like NALCO and the NLC.
Workers of the CITU, AITUC, INTUC, HMS, UTUC and others took to the street to protest the disinvestment policy of the government.
The trade unions are, among other things, protesting against the government's decision to disinvest 10 per cent of its shares in NLC, CITU secretary Dipankar Mukherjee said.
Congratulating the trade unions on the success of their agitation, Mr Mukherjee said the indefinite strike, which saw a virtual bandh of Neyveli town, has given a clear message to the government to rescind its disinvestment decision or face the wrath not only of NLC employees but people of the country as well.
