Militants slaughter one, attack 3 BSF pickets in J

Srinagar, July 5 (UNI) Militants killed one person and attacked three pickets of Border Security Force (BSF) with grenades, injuring three people, including a jawan, in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.

Official sources said militants kidnapped one Imtiyaz Ahmad at Mendhar and later killed him by slitting his throat last night.

They said militants fired a rifle grenade towards 55 battalion BSF camp near Jamia Mosque at Sopore at 1630 hrs.

However, it missed the intended target and exploded at a distance causing injuries to an elderly woman Jigri and one Ali Mohammad. The injured were hospitalised.

In a similar attack militants hurled a hand grenade towards a BSF picket at main town causing injuries to a jawan at Sopore main town.

Militants also hurled a hand grenade towards another BSF picket at Hatishah Sopore. However, it missed the intended target and exploded without causing any damage.
