Major rivers rise in east UP
Varanasi, July 5 (UNI) While dark clouds and sun continue to play hide and seek, major rivers including Ganga, Yamuna and Gomti were on the rise in the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh.
This morning, Ganga was rising at Allahabad and Ballia, while it was stable at Varanasi and Ghazipur.
Among other rivers, Gomti was rising in Jaunpur but stable in Sultanpur, while Yamuna was in spate at Naini (Allahabad).
Meanwhile, rain clouds continued to battle for supremacy with the sun, as only 2.2 mm and one mm rainfall was recorded in Ballia and Sultanpur respectively.
Other parts of the region remained high and dry for want of rain.
