MADRID, July 5 (Reuters) Spanish striker Fernando Morientes today completed his move from Liverpool to Valencia after passing a medical with the Primera Liga club.

The 30-year-old has signed a three-year deal for a reported fee of 6 million euros. Morientes left Liverpool less than a year and a half after arriving from Real Madrid.

Despite his power in the air and excellent strike record at Real he struggled to adapt to the Premiership and scored only 12 goals in 61 appearances for the Merseysiders.

His presentation to the media has been postponed because the club felt it inappropriate to stage the event after Monday's train crash on the Valencia metro that killed 41 people.

At Valencia he will partner David Villa in attack. Villa was the leading Spanish scorer in the Primera Liga last season with 25 goals and scored three in the World Cup.

Morientes's arrival is also likely to signal the departure of Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert from Valencia.
