HC stays posting of PCS cadre on DM posts
Lucknow, July 5 (UNI) In a significant development, Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh government not to post any Provincial Civil Service (PCS) cadre officer as District Magistrate in the state.
A Lucknow division bench comprising Justices Pradeep Kant and Rajiv Sharma passed the order on a petition filed by Indian Administrate Service (IAS) Association.
The petition had mentioned that chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in March this year had announced to posting of five PCS officers as DMs.
Later, two PCS officers were made DMs of Mahamayanagar and another district. The Association claimed it was in violation of rules.
Meanwhile, the court has given two weeks time to the state government to file its rejoinder, following which the next date of hearing would be fixed.
