HC pulls up chief secretary for non-compliance of its order

Shimla, Jul 5 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court today pulled up the state Chief Secretary over the government's lackadaisical approach in providing pool vehicles and accommodation to judicial officers posted at district headquarters and sub-divisional level in the state.

Earlier, the court had issued a contempt notice to the Chief Secretary for not complying with its March 2006, order in this regard.

Not satisfied with the reply filed by the official to the notice, a division bench of the court comprising Chief Justice V K Gupta and Mr Justice Surjit Singh, directed the Chief Secretary to file another affidavit in the court detailing the progress in this regard on the next date of hearing on July 11.

In its March 20 order, the court had directed that a committee headed by Chief Secretary, other senior officers of the state government besides Registrar-General and Registrar of the High Court would meet to finalise the modalities to be worked out by the state government in the matter.

The order was passed on a writ petition filed by HP Judicial Officers Association seeking implementation of recommendations of Shetty Commission as incorporated in All India Judges case judgment by the Supreme Court.
