Gold production during April-May up by 0.757569 tonnes
New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) The total gold production during April and May, 2006 was estimated at 2.258152 tonnes as compared to 1.094175 tonnes during these two months in the last fiscal.
The targeted production for April and May, 2006 was 1.500583 tonnes.
Out of the total production during the period, Hutti Gold Mine Ltd (HGML) produced 0.345152 tonnes, Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) 0.062 tonnes and Hindalco Industries Ltd (HINDALCO) produced 1.851 tonnes.
Production during May, 2005 was 0.907232 tonnes against a target of 0.600919 tonnes. Out of this, HGML produced 0.168232 tonnes, HCL 0.028 tonnes and HINDALCO produced 0.711 tonnes.
After closure of Bharat Gold Mines Ltd (BGML), HGML is the only unit processing gold from ore stage. HCL and HINDALCO process gold as a by-product, while processing copper.
