Gang of railway scrap robbers busted, 7 held

Varanasi, July 5 (UNI) With the arrest of seven persons from Sarnath and neighbouring Mughalsarai today, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) claimed to have busted a gang of railway scrap robbers.

RPF sources said here on being tipped-off, two persons were nabbed alongwith a car loaded with railway scrap from the Mughalsarai area of neighbouring Chandauli district.

Based on information provided by the duo, five more persons including a scrap dealer were arrested from Sarnath area of Varanasi possessing two four-wheelers full of railway scrap, sources added.

The value of the seized scrap was estimated to run into several lakhs of rupees.
