Chennai, Jul 5 (UNI) Ford India posted a growth of 137 per cent in domestic sales in June as the company registered a sale of 3,428 units compared to 1,445 units sold during the same period last year.

Ford India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader, has maintained its high-growth momentum since the launch of the Fiesta in November 2005.

During the period January to June this year, the company registered an overall growth of 91 percent selling 23,756 units compared to 12,436 units sold during the same period in 2005, a company release here today said.

"Our growth momentum over the last six months is an indicator of the ever growing demand for Ford models in India. This is indeed re-affirmation of customer acceptance to the outstanding value proposition that we offer with our line up of products in India," Mr Arvind Mathew, President and Managing Director, Ford India said.

Ford has received an overwhelming response for the all-new Fiesta, especially for the diesel variant. Recently, the company launched a top-end luxury version, the Fiesta 1.4 SXi Duratorq diesel, to clearly establish market leadership in the diesel segment, he said.
