Financial crunch: farmer's family commits suicide
Kalpetta, Kerala, July 5 (UNI) Unable to repay loans taken from banks, the four-member family of a farmer allegedly committed suicide at Kuppadithara in Wayanad district last night.
Police today said Moonnukandathil Ramachandran (46), his wife Leelamma (40), daughter Sumisha (16) and son Akhil Raj (13) were found dead by their relatives at their residence.
Circumstantial evidence indicated that the deaths were due to ingestion of poison, police said.
According to the relatives, Ramachandran owed more than Rs one Lakh to three banking institutions in the district.
