Federer outclasses Ancic to reach semis

LONDON, July 5 (Reuters) Men's champion Roger Federer outclassed Croatia's Mario Ancic 6-4 6-4 6-4 to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals today.

In the last four the Swiss, who is attempting to become only the third man in the professional era to win four consecutive Wimbledon singles titles, will face either Czech Radek Stepanek or Sweden's Jonas Bjorkman.

Ancic's shock first round win over Federer at Wimbledon in 2002 was the last time the Swiss lost a match on grass but the seventh seed failed to cause the top seed any real problems in humid conditions today.

Two rain interruptions could not distract Federer who used forehand winners to break in each of the first two sets and he played some sublime tennis in the third, sealing his 46th successive win on grass with an ace.
