Aizawl, Jul 5 (UNI) The farmers' organisation Zoram Kuthnathawktu Pawl(ZKP) has chalked out plans to expand their presence in the remote areas by protesting against the state's plan for self- sufficiency in foodgrains.

A report today said leaders of ZKP were busy travelling in the state to support the dissatisfied farmers in and around Saitual town last month.

These farmers were unhappy about the state's plan for self- sufficiency in food grains called Mizoram Intodelh Project and about the distribution of funds from the Bamboo Flowering and Famine Combat Scheme (BAFFACOS).

Farmers in rural areas have complained to the chief secretary of the organisation Haukhum Hauzel that the funds, for certain projects, from BAFFACOS, never reached them.

The chief secretary lent a sympathetic ear to their complaints, and the ZKP leaders are currently in the state capital to meet Hauzel.
