Entry tax on petroleum products to remain : Yediyurappa

Bangalore, July 5 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today ruled out in the Legislative Council the removal of entry tax on petroleum products in the state.

Replying to a query by Mr Basavaraj Bommai (JD-U), he said that the JD(S)-BJP coalition government after assuming power had not burdened the commonman with fresh taxes in its budget.

He said he had sought Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to lead a delegation to the Prime Minister to urge the Centre not to hike the prices of petroleum products frequently.

The state government had collected a tax revenue of Rs 2566 crore from sale of petroleum products during 2005-06, he said.
