Delhi government to organise culture festival
New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) Delhi Government plans to organise one cultural festival each month of the year to promote the national capital as a hub of cultural activities.
We would organise at least one festival each month, Delhi Tourism Minister A S Lovely said while releasing the 'Calendar of Events of Festivals 2006-07' for domestic and foreign tourists.
The capital city would not be the same without its celebrations.
The fairs and festivals with their splendour, gaiety and pomp though were all different from each other but still they infused a similar refreshing delight amongts us all, he said.
This was one of the reasons why Delhi even celebrated its mangoes, he said while announcing the state government's decision to hold the 18th Annual Mango Festival on July 8 and 9 in the capital.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit would inaugurate the fest on July 8.
She also announced that one cultural festival would be organised each day during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
According to the Calender of Events of Festivals 2006-07, Mango Festival and Osian's Cine Asian Film Festival would be this month, Trade and Travel Seminar-cum-Mart in August, Qutub Festival in September, Ananya Festival of Classical Dance and Dilli Haat Expo in October, Italian Opera in November, Sharad Utsav in December, Garden Tourism Festival in February 2007, and Global Village and Jahan-E-Khusrau International Sufi Music Festival in March that year.
