CITU to hold nationwide 'Protest Day' on July 7
Jaipur, July 5 (UNI) Accusing the UPA government of retracting from the Common Minimum Programme, the Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU) leader Chittobrata Majumdar today announced nationwide campaigns against the rising prices and anti-labour policies of the government.
General secretary Majumdar, who is here to participate in the state-level conference, said here said CITU would hold nationwide Virodh Diwas (Protest Day) on July 7.
He said the Left is supporting the UPA government not only because there is no alternative but it will not tolerate the anti-people policies. A meeting of CITU in Delhi on July 15 would decide the further strategy of the Union.
He said a strike has already started in Neyveli Lignite mines against disinvestment and an Orissa bandh has been called on July 30 at Nalco to protest disinvestment.
He said the the move to privatise Hyderabad airport has left the workers of the Airports Authority of India stranded.
