Centre, UP to file affidavits on shifting of Science City
Allahabad, July 5 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has asked the Union and Uttar Pradesh governments to file counter affidavits within six weeks on a pil challenging the alleged transfer f the proposed science city from Allahabad to Phopal.
The order was passed by a two-judge bench comprising Justices S R Alam and Sudhir Agrawal on a PIL filed by Jai Prakash Rai, a local advocate.
The petitioner alleged ex union HRD Murli Manohar Joshi had laid the foundation of the 'Science City' to be built at a cost of Rs 49 crore and the required land had also been made available by UP free of cost on the banks of Yamuna in Naini side at Allahabad. Rs 15 crore had also been released in this regard.
Mr Rai claimed there was a rumour that incumbent HRD minister Arjun Singh was trying to transfer the same from Allahabad to Bhopal.
