Anti-Lalu protest on Varanasi railway station
Varanasi, July 5 (UNI) Terming Railway Minister Lalu Prasad as an ''enemy'' of the ancient city, activists of a voluntary organisation today staged dharna on the Varanasi Cantonment railway station against extension of important long distance trains from Varanasi to Bihar.
The activists of 'Prerna,' a local voluntary organisation led by Badaruddin staged a dharna at the station and raised anti-Lalu slogans for extending important long distance trains starting from Varanasi to Bihar.
By extending to Bihar, trains originating from Varanasi like Dadar-Gorakhpur and Sarnath Express, the Railway Minister has harmed the interests of labourers, artisans and traders from this city, who travel to far flung places to earn their livelihood, they claimed.
The activists further demanded that the decision to extend these trains to Bihar be rolled back immediately.
