Ambika Soni to launch medical tourism campaign
New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) Stepping up its efforts to hardsell India as a destination for world-class medical treatment at competitive costs, Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni will launch a worldwide campaign by releasing a brochure and a promotional film on 'Medical Tourism' at a function here tomorrow.
Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss is also expected to attend the function.
The brochure, brought out in cooperation with the Indian Health Care Foundation (IHCF) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), highlights the various treatments offered by Indian hospitals in different specialities.
''The brochure has been worked out keeping in view the overseas market,'' the Tourism Ministry said.
The medical tourism market in India is estimated to be worth over 300 million US dollars with about 150,000 foreign patients coming in every year. It is expected to grow into a two billion dollar business by 2012.
Leading figures from the Indian health care industry, including Dr. Naresh Trehan and Ms. Suneeta Reddy, would also be present at the launch ceremony.
