AIIMS to roll back user charges

New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) The AIIMS Governing Body today decided to roll back controversial user charges imposed on the patients at the premier healthcare institute.

BJP leader V K Malhotra, who is a member of the governing body of the Institute, told reporters after the three hour meeting, that it has been decided to revoke the user charges for various facilities at AIIMS.

The user charges were a bone of contention between the health minister Anbumani Ramadoss and AIIMS faculty members who were demanding its roll back as it was against the interests of the patients.

They along with many political leaders had approached Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention on the issue.
