5.55 kg Heroin worth Rs 5.55 crore seized
Mumbai, July 5 (UNI) The Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) intercepted a Foreign National passenger at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and seized 5.55 kg of Heroin worth Rs 5.55 crore which was concealed in the check-in baggage.
Joint Commissioner of Customs Satish Kumar said in a statement that officers of AIU had intercepted a Nigerian woman named Lobewole Rashidat Ayike, while she was departing for Lagos via Addis Abada by Ethiopian Air lines.
During the screening of her baggage, some abnormal images were noticed. A discreet watch was kept on her movement and she was intercepted, AIU said in a release issued here.
Mr Satish Kumar said during the examination of her belongings, 5.55 kg of heroin worth Rs 5.55 crore in the International Market was recovered.
She was arrested under the provision of section 42 of NDPS Act 1985.
