1,938 pilgrims leave for Amarnath cave
Jammu, July 5 (UNI) The 23rd batch of 1,938 pilgrims today left here for the Himalayan cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir.
The group of devotees, comprising 992 men, 747 women, 52 children and 147 sadhus, left from the base camp at M A M stadium early this morning under tight security in a fleet of 62 vehicles, officials said.
More than 45,000 pilgrims from across the country have left for the holy cave from Jammu since the commencement of the pilgrimage on June 10, sources added.
The sources of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said Amarnath holy cave has witnessed the visit of around 1.75 Lakhs pilgrims till now since June 10, 2006.
