Tursunov fined for outburst

LONDON, July 4 (Reuters) Russian Dmitry Tursunov was fined 7,500 dollars after he raged at umpire Fergus Murphy following his five-set fourth round defeat by Finn Jarkko Nieminen yesterday.

Tursunov was involved in an angry, finger-pointing exchange with the umpire whom he later labelled an 'idiot'.

Organisers said he had been handed two fines for ''unsportsmanlike conduct, one for 2,500 dollars and one for 5,000 dollars''.

After losing his serve to go 8-7 down in the final set, the Russian was docked a point at the start of the last game for hitting the ball in the Irish umpire's direction.

The ball hit the chair but Murphy, who has a history of disputes with Tursunov, was convinced it was aimed at him and handed Nieminen a point.
