Notorious criminal gunned down

Jamshedpur, Jul 04 (UNI) A notorius criminal was shot dead in an encounter with the East Singhbhum district police at Kendadih village under Jadugoda police station today.

Superintendent of police Ashish Batra told the mediapersons that acting on a tip-off a police team chased Sushil Manjhi, who shot at the police while fleeing.

Police retaliated by opening fire and killed Manjhi on the spot.

More than half a dozen cases, including two murder cases, were pending against the deceased, who was absconding for a long time, Mr Batra said.

The body was brought here and sent for postmortem, he added.
