Give retirement benefits to employees, Soren asks CIL
New Delhi, July 4 (UNI) Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren today directed the Coal India Ltd (CIL) and its subsidiary companies to give retirement benefits to the employees on superannuation, and asked them to streamline the disbursal of pension and provident fund amount.
Reviewing the socio-economic problems of the coal sector at a meeting here, Mr Soren asked the companies to fill up the SC/ST vacancies on a time bound manner.
It was decided that CIL's R&R policy should be adopted uniformly across the states and to bring about necessary changes in the policy accordingly.
The Minister asked to re-examine the eligibility criteria for giving employment under R&R policy to reduce the burden under displaced people.
Mr Soren asked the coal companies to dispose off the pending cases of compassionate appointments and the applications of employees seeking retirement on medical grounds by holding a special medical board.
Among others, Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao, Coal Secretary H C Gupta and senior officials of the Ministry and the CIL were also present.
